Do you own a business? Are you a manager who is having a difficult time getting everybody on the same track? If this sounds like you, it may be time to hire a team coach. This is not somebody who will come in and take your job. But instead a professional who knows what it takes to build a team the right way. Soon enough, your team coach will have you and your employees working towards common goals and increasing production and efficiency.

If you are going to hire a team coach you need to make the right decision. Not every team coach will be right for your company, but it is safe to say that there are a few of them who will fit in perfectly.

Finding and Hiring a Team Coach

Finding a team coach is the first step. Many people, especially business owners, ask industry contacts if they have ever used a team coach or know of somebody with a lot of experience in this area. By doing this you will receive quality, accurate information from people you trust. If you don’t have any connections you will want to turn to the internet to find a team coach. Most team coaches have their own website so you should be able to locate information on how to get in touch, the benefits of starting, fees and much more.

Once you find several team coaches that you are confident in, the next step is to hire one. What is most important to you when hiring a team coach? Some people want to hire a team coach that they can afford. For this reason, you need to ask about fees upfront. Others may want a team coach who can travel to their office on a regular basis. This is important if you have a large team.

The details that you consider when hiring a team coach are up to you. Make sure you know what is most important.

Selecting a Team Coach

These three questions will make it much easier for you to select the right team coach.

1. How much experience do you have? You need to hire a team coach who has experience working with teams and solving problems. For more information in this area, ask each coach for references.

2. How much do you charge? As you know, you will have to pay for the services of a team coach. If you are on a budget you need to be careful when selecting a coach.

3. How much time are you purchasing? It is one thing to know how much you have to pay for a team coach, but another entirely to learn what you will get in return. How many hours will your team coach spend with you and your team? Will he come to your office? Is there an additional travel fee? Make sure you know what you are buying.

Even though you may be in charge of your team within your company, there may come a time when you need outside help. A team coach is not going to take your position, but instead work with you to set goals as well as a path for reaching them. Any problem that your team is having is one that can be solved by a team coach. Some companies hire a team coach for nothing more than bringing employees together and showing them what a cohesive unit can accomplish.
