Corporate Coaching is used to coach an entire organization to meet certain goals. It takes into account the team involved and the corporate mission and strategy. The performance requirements decide the goals. A corporate coach analyzes the culture and dynamics of the organization before embarking on corporate coaching. The goals may be short-term ones and restricted to a particular project, or they may be designed for long-term support. In the initial level, corporate coaching overlaps both life and executive coaching. It involves coaching an entire organization in many different areas of life.

All corporate coaches need to have an ability to study an organization and align their thoughts along with the requirements of the organization. They need to understand the mission and vision of the organization and then set goals accordingly. All coaches need to be implicitly truthful while dealing with both the organization and its employees. There are different areas of expertise of a corporate coach. He can be a 1-on-1 corporate coach, an internal corporate coach or a corporate training coach.

  • 1-on-1 Corporate Coach – In such an instance of corporate coaching, the coach emphasizes on the overall growth of the employee. This includes both personal and professional lives. The employee retains the coach on his own accord. He confides in the coach to meet his professional goals and holds himself accountable for the same. The coach listens, questions, empathizes, responds and challenges the employee to set a goal and strategically plan to achieve it. In order to be successful in his role, the coach must understand the challenges and needs of the organization.
  • Internal Corporate Coach – Here the coach is hired by the organization to educate the entire staff in a group environment. He has to be a proficient speaker and facilitator to work with a large group. Sometimes organizations train a part of their own employees to become coaches and handle the internal problems. This happens in the course of a large intensive in-house corporate coaching program. Each organization has its own criteria for employing its own internal corporate coach.
  • Corporate Training Coach – In this type of corporate coaching, the coach should have all the skills of an expert like seizing the precise moment and also devising support systems for his clients. He should be very professional in his approach and understand the corporate climate well.
